FRANSCHHOEK AGRIMARK SUPPORTS OPEN GARDEN PROJECT

The Open Gardens Pot Competition is a community outreach initiative of the Lions Club of Franschhoek. This annual event is a fundraiser for the home for the aged, Fleur de Lis, and for the local Groendal community.

The competition sought to find the best potted flowers or vegetables. A total of 20 pots were entered by members of the Groendal community.

The pots will be displayed at an Open Gardens event which will be held in Franschhoek on 22 October 2016. The pots will then be sold and the proceeds will be donated to the beneficiaries.

Steven Cronje, Manager of the Franschhoek Agrimark, joined this initiative by donating potting soil and compost. According to Steven there are some very keen gardeners and every year more participants are encouraged to take part.

Agrimark will form part of the panel which will adjudicate the pots in October, and they will also be the main sponsor of the event.
