“Hoping is Coping” is a CAN/SA support group which was formed ten years ago in the Pniel area. The group focuses mainly on giving emotional support to persons diagnosed with cancer.  They give patients and their families a better understanding of cancer, and they also provide them with the necessary skills to view the illness in a more positive light. In order to raise funds, the group annually stages a “Relay for Life” event, and when the chairman, Roderick Jefthas, approached Cedrico Rhode, Manager of the Simondium Agrimark, for a donation, he had no hesitation to support this good cause.

He donated Namchar products for the barbeque, and the “braaivleis” will be sold to the public in order to raise additional funds. Both Roderick and his wife Phillida were diagnosed with cancer and are currently in remission.
