As the agri sector is our bedrock, transformation is well aligned to our core business within the Kaap Agri Group. More than 27% of its shares are owned by BEE groups. The company is already a Level 3 BEE contributor with a 110% recognition for procurement spend, and is striving towards increasing this even more. This score is one of the best in the agricultural supply chain industry.

The Kaap Agri Employee and Farmworker BEE Trust was formed with 5% of Kaap Agri shares being issued to the Trust. The Trust’s beneficiaries are employees, farmworkers, their families and local communities within the areas we operate. Over the last 5 years, the Trust has provided over R1.2 million in support.

The Group is an active participant in the AgriSETA and conduct several learnerships on an ongoing basis under this SETA with the objective of developing talent and strengthening the pipeline of potential employees.

For the work done by Kaap Agri within its communities, it was honoured in 2014 by being appointed as the overall winner of the Media24 prize for social investment by unlisted companies. Kaap Agri was also placed first in the skills development category.
